"I copy that" is walkie-talkie talk for - I understand, will do, gotcha, ok, alright, yup, uh-huh, and much more depending on the inflection of the voice.

Minnesota Musings 1

I stepped off of the plane and there it was - not the "thank you" lady, but the smell of the cold... the air is different here in MN.

I go to the front of the airport. (This happens every time I come home,) I see a car - their license plate and think, "wow, they're from Minnesota". Every time.

Tort. The word is "tort". I always thought the politicians were saying "court reform". Oops.

My mom bakes for me. There were chocolate chip cookies waiting, and she may make caramel rolls tomorrow.

I went to a TGI Fridays. I couldn't read the menu, the writing was too big and there were too many pages.

I watched TV with my parents in their room. We saw my roommate repeatedly run into a plexi-glass wall on David Letterman. They did it fast, and with "upbeat" music. You can't run into a wall with upbeat music unless it is slapstick. SLAM is more than slapstick.

I know more republicans than democrats in Minnesota.

I'm now going to sleep in my bed that isn't really my bed.

I have probably spent less time at this house than I did in Russia.

This house is almost as big as Russia.

I sez it good.

It's official, I will be home for a total of 5 days from tomorrow until December 30th. Anyone need a place to crash? Xanadu is fantastic.

My mom likes to have family around... all the time. MN for turkey (or tofu) day, home, Africa, Europe, MN for x-mas, and home for the new year.

Who's havin' the party this year? happy new year wee.

Also this weekend was spent at Patty von PatPat's birthday party. Where a good time was had.

Charbie, my soon to be partner, and the birthday boy.

hmm... I was just reading an "article" by Bill O'Reilly. The first half was surprisingly well argued. Then he gets silly, "Now, there's nothing factually wrong with that headline. But is it designed to put the Marine and the U.S. in a dubious light? You make the call." Now, Bill, if you are writing, "you make the call" aren't you pressing your own opinion by not actually having two things to choose from but by placing the seed of anger towards the "liberal media"? Is it designed to give people ideas that they believe they created so that O'Reilly's brainwashing plan continues? You make the call.

Then I actually looked at what the "paper" was. The New York Daily News. I read on. My favorite headline was "Naomi bit me, sez fired aide". SEZ... sez. says... it's only one more letter, use it. DAILY NEWS - SEZ. My favorite "article" was this. I started to quote it, but the whole thing is so good, I couldn't do it. The stupidity is phenomenal and it gets better with every paragraph.

Now let me leave you with a toast to my Trapeze Teacher, as he leaves STREB.

Cheers, good luck.

Rant 1 -
remember my car? Yeah, well part of it was covered by insurance, now... on the other side of the car my mirror fell off completely on its own. This was followed by a resident of Greenpoint bashing it off of the side of my car. It now matches the other side -

car sideview

I thought to myself, "Myself? That can't cost much, it's a mirror!" A $120 mirror.

That is only for the MIRROR. The whole thing to be repaired - $420.

The entire SIDE of my car cost 2,000 dollars... a mirror.

car accident
Rant 2
My Broker, today, reminded me of this one-

The number 13. Deal with it.

Why do buildings not have them... 14 is still the 13th floor, unless there is a "ground" floor, then it changes a little. Who cares. Deal with it.

"Symptoms of Fear Of 13:
( Triskaidekaphobia)
breathlessness, excessive sweating, nausea, dry mouth, shaking, heart palpitations, inability to speak or think clearly, a fear of becoming mad or losing control, a sensation of detachment from reality or a full blown anxiety attack."-

what what?

now... I understand if it is Arachnophobia, "Fear of Spiders. Half of women and 10 per cent of men have, to some degree, a fear of spiders."

Spiders could possibly hurt you, falls can hurt you, even lack of space could, very remotely, hurt you... 13???

Maybe the number 9... Shakespeare and all that, holy trinity times three... whatever.

13 - Deal with it.

Mini Rant 3

Killing people.
Don't DO that.

Or just do it well enough where no one can ask questions...

I was going to put links to all of those of different things, of late, that I think are sick... but you know what they are. Preaching - choir, all that, if you want extendo-rant, you can always ask.

Except maybe this one. wow. good one. "(found human remains in a locked, unplugged freezer in a rented storage room)"

ok, now to book my ticket to africa. whew. feel better now.

Names are funny things.

Bush nominates Spellings for education

Surprisingly, my name was unique in Scotland. It was "very American". I didn't know that. I guess there are a lot of football players named Chad, but it was a country in Africa first. Maybe it has to do with Florida in 2000?

I will be very excited when there is a Chad on TV that is not a jock, prep, or gay... I'm not saying I don't love preppy gay jocks... but I just want to be a hero, who doesn't?

Last night I went hunting with my Minnesota boys.

DougEFresh, My Broker, and My Philosophy Teacher. Many digital deer gave their lives for our entertainment... and, for that, we thank them.

Then came the dreaded buy-back. I am usually a huge fan of the buy-back - and I had never gotten one at this drinking establishment, but last night it was more than one... a few more than one.

Longstoryshort... I woke up with this on my arm. It's not my handwriting. I don't know. I don't know.

I spent yesterday morning walking around theater row making sure my camera-man didn't run into anything (he was walking backwards). We worked out this whole system of taps and signals - all without words, good fun... like the theater games of old.

I have grand plans for this little documentary. Anyone know a good (free) editor?

The afternoon was in the subject's appartment. it has a view.

Then I bought a typewriter. I feel like a typewriter gives things an originality without being handwriting. I also like the idea of not being able to easily change things, sorta like life.

My car is not easily changed. Someone "hitandran" it. Yes, I did just make a verb out of three words, deal. It is now in the shop and I have desided that the Chad Taxi will now take donations for trips longer than one hour. done.

I'm getting there.

It's my sister's birthday. She's 21. I'm old.

She's in Africa right now and hopefully I will be visiting her next month. When else do I have the chance or reason to go to Africa?

Anyway, spent my day in Jacqueline Bertrand's apartment shooting a documentary. Amazing woman. I really like her recently passed husband's work, Peter Basch. The apartment is a museum and shrine to his work, hers, and Al Hirschfeld - family friend. Drawings, a real Matisse, and stacks of original and unpublished photos of famous, naked women.

What a bummer, getting paid to do what you love.

I'm getting there.

Jesus for 23 years.

I just got home from a trip to the 'Cuse with Zero Four.

Background - I have taken on the challenge of building my own theater. It is a wonderful space with a bar, cafe, performance area for theater or music, offices, and everyone gets paid - in my head... so, I went to Syracuse to look at a theater that is being evicted. It was beautiful and has everything we need - in my head... in reality it was really old with lots and lots of shit, everywhere. The seats looked fun, light board is do-able, and the costumes are amazing. Now I have to make an offer and figure out where and when to move it all.

The guy who runs the theater has been doing it for over 40 years, and 30 in the same building. Zero Four and I realized that it was like a wife telling her husband that he must sell the bowling lamp from the attic in their garage sale, but he just can't bare to do it.

He goes on to explain that they have done "Jesus Christ Superstar" for 29 years in a row. The same guy played Jesus for 23 years, with a one year sabbatical.

And they wonder why they didn't have money to make repairs.

where I want to live?

Blue. Where the smart people are. I can't really imagine living long term in a red area. I used to just say "red state" but now I have changed my tune with the joys of visual aids. These guys from the University of Michigan explained how this map -

can turn into this map -

But I am sure you can use your deductive reasoning to see that the map has been rescaled according to population.

Maybe I only like rural areas when I am alone... see, here I am being Mel Gibson, I mean Jesus, all by myself.

scotland reunion

The other night I had a little reunion with my Edinburgh Festival Fringe cast, not much has changed in 4 months.

First Post

I leave the first page of my journals and notebooks blank... I guess I can't do that with a blog.

I'll keep this first one short.
